Description

Hosseini's Epic in the Collective Memory discusses the place of Imam Hossein's movement and uprising in the memory and view of Sunnis and Shiites, as well as the inappropriate perceptions that have been made about this epic throughout history. This book is organized into eight chapters. The first two chapters are devoted to collective memory and the history of the compilation of the Hosseini's epic and the first narrators of the Ashura. The third chapter concerns ballad books in the field of Ashura studies. The theme of the fourth chapter is the goals of the Hosseini's movement and the fifth chapter is about the people's attitude towards the Hosseini's movement. In chapters 6 and 7, the inappropriate viewpoints of Sunnis and the deviant views of Shiites regarding Hosseini's epic were discussed. The eighth chapter also describes a unified reform plan aimed at purifying Hosseini's slogan and the viewpoints of reformers in the area of Ashura. The explanation of the phases of Hosseini's movement from Medina to Mecca and Karbala, etc. constitutes the end of the book. In this book, the author attempts to answer many questions about Hosseini's epic; notably: ‘How were the facts of the Hosseini's epic recorded?’, ‘What has the collective memory preserved about the Ashura movement?’, ‘What is the point of view of Islamic schools on this epic?’, ‘Did Islamic schools disagree on the details of the events of Ashura or on the interpretation of these important events?’, ‘How have official authorities handled this epic throughout history?’, ‘How did the elites react?’, ‘How did people deal with this?’, ‘What is wrong with insulting the Hosseini's epic in the Sunni school?’, ‘What is wrong with insulting the Hosseini's epic in the school of the AhlulBayt (a.s.)?’, ‘How we purify Hosseini's rituals and Ashurai culture from the deviations and errors of the past centuries?’. One of the valuable advantages of this work consists in the logical classification and arrangement of numerous tables and diagrams, designed to express the topics of the book.
