Jaakko Hameen-Anttila is a Finnish scholar working on Classical Persian and Arabic literature and the cultural transmission between the two languages in the Classical period. He is currently Professor of Arabic and Islamic Studies at the University of Edinburgh. He has published extensively, including the following monographs: Al-Maqrīzī’s al-Ḫabar ʿan al-bašar (Vol. V, section 4) Persia and Its Kings, Part I (2018); Khwadāynāmag: The Middle Persian Book of Kings (2018); The Last Pagans of Iraq: Ibn Waḥshiyya and his Nabatean Agriculture (2006); MAQAMA: A History of a Genre (2002).
